Martin Wishart was the first Chef to obtain a Michelin Star for a Scottish restaurant. Creating a fine dining restaurant in Cameron House Hotel, at the invitation of the Directors of the De Vere Group.

The service at the Martin Wishart Restaurant is very efficient and the waiting staff are very knowledgeable about their dishes, wines and cheeses, they take it seriously and their passion is highly evident.  It makes such a difference when waiting staff tell you more about the dishes at ordering and also when your food is served.  The staff are very discreet yet highly attentive, with your wine and water topped up regularly throughout the meal.  Although professional it is not too formal and therefore uncomfortable, the restaurant has a very warm, welcoming atmosphere.

For the main event – The Food

To Start – Pithivier of Highland Game Celeriac puree, bitter chocolate sauce.

Meat was wrapped in pastry with a mild puree and chocolate sauce wonderful flavours and great combination.

The Main - John Dory and Puy Lentils Kale and Ginger puree, oyster beignets.

The fish was so fresh and worked well with the very green puree, A light but very tasty course.

To finish - The cheese selection was extensive and the knowledge of the cheeses was very apparent.  For someone who doesn’t like cheese much this experience has turned me into making a trip to IJ Mellis a necessity.

Favourites were the haggis bonbons and the rye bread.
