About the Job
The job that is available is a Chef de Partie position. You’ll be taking command of a section of the kitchen, making it your own, bossing service, burning through checks (not literally burning them, though the thought is nice sometimes) and working closely with the other chefs in the team.
The food is very straight forward with classic dishes and ingredients cooked perfectly. Anything from fajitas to whole trout to classic steaks, dishes that everyone is familiar with – Your job is to make them so good that the customers don’t forget just how good you made their food. You’re not just a chef, you’re an architect of memories.
About You
You’ve made it this far, so you no doubt get the main things a Chef de Partie will need to do. You should have sharp knife skills & your knives should be sharp. You should know all the basics and be able to execute them well & you should be open to picking up new skills & techniques & show that you want to be involved with the team.
You should be able to work off your own initiative & be able to integrate with the other chefs to make service flow.
You’ll be shown how to make everything on the menu, so there is no need to be intimidated by any of the cooking side. The team works well together & is very inclusive, so you’ll be well supported in this job.
You should have your NVQ level 2 finished either through college or apprenticeship. Ideally, you’ll have a current Food Hygiene & Allergy Certificate – though this can be done prior to starting your job & we can help set that up for you.
A massive part of being able to do this job is having the right attitude, the hotel is busy for a large part of the year, so you should be able to handle pressure when the board starts getting full.
Salary Range & Benefits
The salary will depend on experience though the general range is around 18-21k
There is accommodation available with the role & you’ll have access to company benefits like staff meals & the company pension scheme.
