Pastry Chef

A Pastry Chef entails working closely with the Head Chef to encompass the sweets sections and bakery to the main menu. The Pastry Chef of larger establishments will normally manage a team from a baker on the morning shifts through to a second in command to cover days off and annual leave.

An established Pastry Chef will have notable experience and qualifications obtained through internal training programs or HND / SVQ’s gained at college. The Pastry Chef will have expert knowledge of patisserie and bread preparation.

Pastry Chef’s responsibilities will include; menu creation and its implementation, training and motivating the team and adhere to all health and safety legislation to name but a few.

A Pastry Chef salary is circa £20,000 to £35,000 per annum, depending on the establishment and the size of the brigade.
