Scottish Chefs Conference

STAFFFINDERS were invited to the 6th Annual Scottish Chefs Conference which was held on the 7th November 2011 in the Thistle Hotel Glasgow. It was an unmissable event for chefs.

The day consisted of show stopping cooking demonstrations from master chefs from all over Europe, and included our own Willie Pike.

The Chefs that were performing at the Scottish Chefs Conference were:

Roy Brett, a 23 year veteran and owner of Ondine restaurant in Edinburgh

Tom Kerridge, ‘TV chef’ and owner of The Hand and Flowers in Marlow, Buckinghamshire which has just received its 2nd Michelin star.

Bart Van Cauwenberghe,   Ambassador of Belgian chocolate since 2005.  He gave everyone a little tasting box and then went on to explain the theory behind the flavour that makes chocolate, chocolate.

Gary Jones of Le Manoir au Quat Saisons in Oxford, responsible for training and development with in the company. Gary produced a simple but very effective dish for all the chefs.  To see this demo, please click here.

Willie Pike, the granddaddy of them all (and the organiser of this years Scottish Chefs Conference) who specialises in Sugar Craft and Desserts as well as high quality mains, wowed the audience with some sugar work. These included blown sugar apple and a mini Taj Mahal.  Inbetween this demo Wille had been working with students from the local colleges to assist him in making and producing a fabulous 6 course dinner for all people involved.
